Built during the reign of Augustus, the Ancient Theatre of Orange is one of the best-preserved Roman theatres in the Western world and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is renowned for the exceptional preservation of its stage wall (37 meters high and 107 meters long), its stage (61 meters in length and 9 meters wide), and, above all, its excellent acoustics. It can accommodate up to 8,000 spectators. Today, it hosts numerous performances, including the Chorégies, a world-renowned lyrical arts festival.
